The NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is the highest level of NEBOSH qualification recognised worldwide. It is for aspiring health and safety professionals who want to develop their career and progress to strategic decision making roles underpinned by competent performance gained from this qualification. It provides successful delegates with the academic requirements for the coveted Chartered Membership of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (CMIOSH). What does the qualification cover?
The NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety provides the core health and safety knowledge (transferable across industry, commerce and the public sector) which, combined with understanding and appropriate application, underpins the competent performance of an Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner.
There no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however candidates should consider that this is professional level qualification, approximately equivalent to Level 6. Achievement of the NGC or direct equivalent prior to undertaking the Diploma course is highly recommended.
The qualification is divided into four units, each of which is assessed separately:
- Unit A: Managing health and safety
- Unit B: Hazardous agents in the workplace
- Unit C: Workplace and work equipment safety
- Unit D: Application of health and safety theory and practice
Students may choose to take individual units in any order over a five year period and will be awarded a unit certificate for each unit passed.

Course key facts
Duration:
6 weeks classroom based lecturing over 11 months plus 3 days for exams. Students will be expected to do a considerable amount of self studying and topic revision.
